Resource Description
(I used a compatible dyslexic font that individuals with dyslexia or a reading disability do not experience confusion)
This is worksheets for learners that really struggle with the basic use of these concepts:
The workshops are based on the following principles:
1. Assessment for pre-teaching (what does the learner know)
2. Teach/Reteach the concept
3. Assessment for post-teaching (to assess if learning took place)
4. Revision (do this only after a week to see if learner still understand and remember the concepts)
* Value (When I say VALUE, you see ZERO’s) – they have to learn to replace all other numbers with ZERO’s
* Place VALUE (When I say PLACE – YOU see a HOUSE). I’ve made drawings of a HOUSE with the place value frame. Every place value have their OWN room: U; T; H; Th; Tth; Hth; M
* Reading BIG numbers: I am showing the learners to break up the place value frame into groups of 3 and to ONLY read three numbers at a time WITH the last value, except the UNIT.
This can be used for Grade 4 introduction. I have used this for grade 4 – 7 with learners that struggle with these concepts.
The TRIANGLES on the page is for mark allocations to track the progress between the pre-teaching, teaching and revision
