Resource Description

This board game is a fun way for learners to practice parts of speech. Players each get ten word cards and they may turn these over and look at all of them. They then take turns to throw the die. The number thrown will dictate what part of speech they need to place on the game board – if they have one of those words in their pack of 10 cards. If they don’t have the card required, the next player takes their turn. If they have more than one, for example, verb, they may still only place one in the correct column. Unless the player throws a 6, then they may place one of each part of speech that they have in their pack of 10 cards. The aim is to be the first player to place all ten cards in the columns. The player who places all their cards first is the winner.

Pages of other words are provided for an alternative way to play the game. The alternative way is to play with colour-coded words. In this version, players will identify the part of speech immediately (by its colour) but they then need to think of an appropriate sentence where they use that word accurately in context. The word cards are available in uppercase and lowercase.
