Resource Description

Full theory Lesson plus a lab practical to teach a lesson on Heat transfer. It covers the ways in which energy can be transferred by heating (conduction, convection and radiation), defining the term thermal conductivity, the effects of thickness, thermal conductivity and temperature difference on rate of cooling, ways of reducing unwanted energy transfers using thermal insulation and explaining how different ways of reducing energy transfer by heating work. The practical investigates the effect of different insulating materials on temperature change. There is also a follow up quiz and a research task included.
