English : Comprehension and Summary Q & A (Home Language or FAL) HOBBIES

This Resource includes a Comprehension and Summary with multiple choice style questions for the first part out of 15 marks, followed by short True and False questions, followed by questions where pupils have to write full sentences in their own words.

As you can see there is a progression in the build up of the exercise, leading from easy style answering (not to mention marking!) to True and False, then leading up to sentence construction.  This is structured this way to lead the pupils from easy to more challenging.

Section A (the Comrehension) is out of 30 marks in total) and it is followed by Section B – The Summary.  It is a 5 point Summary where the pupils use the same text to extract only essential or key points which stand out.  They show their ability to condense information as they read it, so that they also learn the skill of avoiding plaguerism.

These are all key skills in getting pupils to think critically in a core subject such as languages, and the entire document is highly editable as it comes in MS Word.  You can copy and paste drop it into any exam question paper it it is print ready if you only want to prepare students for tests and exams.  Easy peasy and makes light of the bulk of language teachers’ stressing and sleepless nights.
