Resource Description

This programme can be used with learners in need of extra phonics practice. 150 worksheets are included.

•Before starting with THIS intervention programme, make sure that phonemic awareness, blending AND visual perceptual skills are well developed. These work sheets can not be done without the support of an adult. If caregivers are involved, appropriate training should be provided.

•Remember that reading is not a visual process and that phonemic awareness a dynamic process is. When a child is able to identify first, middle and last sounds and is able to blend sounds into a word, it does not mean that he has sufficient phonemic awareness skills for reading skills to develop. Continuous focus on phonemic awareness facilitate automatic reading (opposite of sound by sound reading)
