STEAM Rocket Project
R287.50
Resource Description
This is fun STEAM project for and school and learner. It has a MicroBit coding and robotics which is optional.
This competition will test the teams’ knowledge of engineering, aerodynamics, energy, and ingenuity by challenging you to construct a rocket at school that will be flight-tested by the team on the day of competition.
Instructions: Each team must comprise of THREE members and must complete all THREE categories of the competition as outlined below.
Teachers should assign each member of the team to represent a category namely:
Time in the air,
Distance in the air,
Design Category
• On the day of the competition teams will have 5 minutes to present their project at the venue.
• Pumps and launchpad will be provided on the day of participation.
• The educator is allowed to assist the learners during the allocated 5 minutes.
However, the educator is not allowed to touch the rocket.
Category 3 – Design The purpose of this category is to encourage learners to do research.
• Teams are required to do research and build the rocket using the materials instructed in module:
• Teams must ensure that the design of their rocket remains in the air for at least two seconds.
• The key is to practice, to ensure that your rocket is optimized for competition day
