Character Obituary – For Any Literature (Editable in Google Slides)

Your students are probably tired of writing the typical articles and essay formats. This resource is a new spin on a writing activity. Have your students choose a character who died in a story and create an obituary based on that character. The obituary they write will be submitted to the local paper. This activity requires students to look through the reading to find textual information to support their answers. Alternatively you can use this as a written piece for when a main character dies, later on past the reading. Use this fun activity with ANY short story, novel, play or history unit. This resource includes two Obituary Request forms matching writing and Sketch Handout.

This resource comes in a printable PDF as well as an editable Google Slide. Make changes as you feel is best for your class! You can print it out and provide the organizers to your students, or allow them to make a copy and fill it in digitally.
