Educational games to spice up your lessons

  Teacha!

Any teacher knows it’s a constant struggle to keep learners engaged during lessons! We’ve found that one of the most effective ways to keep your students excited to learn is by making your class interesting!

So how can you do that? Spice it up now and again and incorporate educational games into your lessons.

Here are some ideas:

Sight Word Fishing

  Teacha!

Here’s a unique way to stir up some excitement in the classroom – take your learners fishing!

If your students are learning sight words, this is a great way to make it even more fun.

Snakes and Ladders

Switch the boring phonics lessons out for something fun! Snakes and Ladders is a classic favourite, and the little ones won’t even realise they’re learning while they play.

Hang the Washing Word and Reading Game

  Teacha!

Use clothing pegs to bring this fun word game to life! Print, laminate and cut out the images, and then ask your students to peg the correct piece of clothing to its matching word. Students have to form the words using the sounds given on the worksheets.

This interactive game is not only fun, but is also a super effective reading lesson!

Beat the Clock Times Tables

Your students need to know their times tables off by heart for them to learn math proficiency. A little healthy competition is always good when trying to stir up excitement, and gives your learners a reason to practice!

Use a timer or a stopwatch and have your class compete to see who can do their times tables the quickest.

This resource includes:

Klanka Bingo Speletjie

This is an ideal resource to use for young learners learning Afrikaans as their first language, or intermediate phase learners practising Afrikaans FAL.

Bingo is always a winner and we can guarantee your students will appreciate a break from serious lessons.

We hope these resources help to spark the desire to learn in your classroom!
