Resource Description

‘Words that sound the same’ has been carefully designed to provide young learners with ample practice, enjoyment and understanding of Homophones: words that sound the same, but have different spellings and different meanings!

Many reading programmes introduce the concept of homophones in the second grade, making them an important part of learning. Homophone pairs (or triplets!) build a growing vocabulary and reinforce spelling.

This 13-page product is brim-full of activities that provide repetition and revision for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic (action-based) learners. The activities include word cards, gap-fill sentences, crafting and riddles. Gap-fill sentences indicate how homophones are used in the context of different sentences, helping students to recognise and understand them.

The overall aim of the product is to empower young students of English to master the spelling and meaning of homophones, eliminate confusion and conquer the fear of tricky terminology. All at the same time!

This resource is suitable for all beginner-level learners of English.
