Although the long ‘O’ sound can be represented by 5 different spelling patterns, this 15-page product focuses on the O_E, ‘OA’ and ‘OW’ digraphs, traditionally introduced before the others. These digraphs carry the long /o/ sound.
The material begins with a revision of all long vowel sounds, syllables and vowel teams in order to prepare young students for the new learning. The guidance is structured and sequential using all three learning pathways: auditory, visual and kinesthetic.
The ensuing pages continue the multi-sensory approach and include: word-picture match, gap-fill sentences, correcting the spelling, handwriting, colour and (or) trace, placement of the long ‘O’ sound in words and a final ‘challenge’ page.
