The Word Association Game

This resource provides the flashcards to teach the Word Association Game. This game teaches learners to express the associations that are going on in their minds, sometimes consciously and sometimes sub-consciously. The flashcards provide initial words/topics to begin the game. There are also ten examples of playing the game, using the flashcards, in two different ways. One way to play is to choose words that all relate to the topic/initial word. The other way is to choose a word that relates to only the previous word given. This game encourages the learners to think “outside of the box” and it is also an opportunity to practice reading skills as they read the flashcards.
