Shared reading/writing sentence strips – jumbled

This document consists of 16 sheets with a different jumbled sentence on each sheet. There are multiple copies of the sentence on each sheets so it makes for easier photocopying.

The children absolutely love this activity, we do 2-3 sentences per week. These are from term 3 in a grade 1 class in the southern suburbs of cape town.

We discuss the words individually, build the sentence and discuss it as a whole class. We also read it together with a larger, printed version on the carpet.

They then have to cut up each word and for their sentence as well as write and illustrate it.
