Resource Description

Is it time for a new introduction to the oa digraph? How about trying out this simple poem? It is easy for learners to memorise and contains pictures of all the words mentioned for the visual learner. These words are also in colour to help the learners to recognise them easily. Learners can add their own actions for fun and to help them remember the poem in a way that makes sense to them. When they then need to spell one of the words in this family they will know to use the oa spelling, as all the o sounds in this poem use that spelling. This poem is ideal for Grade 2 learners who are learning this digraph for the first time. It can be put up as a poster for learners to refer back to after your introductory lesson with it.
