Resource Description

Research has shown that children without a thorough knowledge of sounds (phonemes) and letters (graphemes),  will struggle to learn to read. This oral rhyming activity encourages the children to listen to the sounds in the words and find a picture with a matching end cluster. “If you can spell bat, you can easily spell cat, hat, mat, pat and sat.”

is ideal for children that are ‘just not able to break the code’ in a remedial setting. Use pegs or buttons to identify the rhyming words. It is an excellent activity for use by speech therapists, class assistants or parent volunteers.
