Resource Description

An interactive Video to help with WOORDBOU in Afrikaans. ‘Ons Huis’ where they learn various names for rooms and extention activities involve learning words such as ‘n / die / hierdie / daardie plus plurals eg. slaapkamer / slaapkamers en toilet/toilette etc.
They also learn how to apply these words into sentences.
Eg. My ouma het een toilet in haar huis.
Ons het twee toilette in ons huis.

The video can be paused at any time (especially for written instructions where they have to copy the vocabulary).

It includes a game where they have to guess between two options for the right word meaning. Answers are not displayed, the teacher will lead their guessing games.

Added to the interactive video is a highly customisable Ms Word printable document with extension / homework activities (either that or for kids who are restless and can’t keep still (perhaps ADHD children who are smart and get bored easily). There is a printable puzzle and drawing space for them to design their dream house which they then have to label in Afrikaans.

A comprehensive lesson with the purpose of it being interactive, there is audio to make pronounciation easier for the pupils (so that they also have to listen for the correct pronounciation). They could potentially do a quiz shortly after the video where the class is divided in two and they could do a small competition between them (or boys vs girls whatever is the class’ preference) where they see who can give the correct name when the teacher gives it in English and a bonus point for anyone who gives the correct pronounciation.

There’s plenty that can lead from this lesson, perhaps, objects within a room eg. In ons Kombuis is daar ‘n mes, messe, ‘n bord, borde etc
