Resource Description

ONOMATOPOEIA – What a word.

It can be quite a task to find fun, interesting and challenging worksheets to teach the concept of “onomatopoeia”.

In the past, I have taught onomatopoeia using comic strips, and even tried matching pictures to their onomatopoeic sounds.

We can do better – I’ve got you covered.

In this fun activity, we explore various pop songs that contain onomatopoeia, such as “Boom Clap” by Charli XCX and more.

In addition to this, learners will have a challenge to complete –

Who can come up with the most CREATIVE examples of things or animals that make certain onomatopoeic sounds?

(Some examples listed for teacher use).
