Resource Description

Master the spelling! M, mm, and mb

The ‘m’ consonant sound is made by lightly pressing the lips together while making the /mmm/ sound. The words are commonly spelt with ‘m’, ‘mm’ or ‘mb’ (silent b). The ‘gm’ (as in paradigm) and ‘mn’ (as in column) are less common and not included at this level.

Placement of the letter ‘M’ can be at the beginning, middle or end of a word. The product’s format carefully includes ample opportunities for students to identify, use, say and spell all placements.

Repetitive worksheet-style exercises include visual images to enhance understanding and retention.

The 19-page material includes engaging word sorts, gap-fill sentences, handwriting practice, word lists, adjectives and writing sentences. Students are encouraged to say the words out loud to incorporate the auditory learning pathway.

A fun game, riddles (think and learn), colouring activities and cut-out cards will assist with revision and reinforce the learning.
