This is an empathy exercise that teaches the skill of synthesis. Learners are presented with 2 textual and multiple visual sources and then need to write a long paragraph in which they put themselves into the position of a Japanese American of their age who was placed in a camp. In using all sources, they need to extract and not repeat evidence.
