Grade 5 Geography Term 1 Assessment

This product can be used as your Term 1 assessment, a revision or practice test, or even as extension activities. It is in Word and PDF for ease of use.

This paper is also available in Afrikaans.

This paper consists of 40 marks and 7 questions. The Blooms levels are indicated in the memorandum. It covers content learnt in Term 1 Geography as per CAPS requirements. Grade 5 only requires a paper to be out of 30 so you need to remove some of the questions. Please adjust to your needs and the content you covered in class. As you adjust the paper, so the Blooms levels will also need to adjust.

There are a variety of questioning types, most of which are source based. This paper covers the following topics:

–       The world’s continents and oceans

–       Finding direction from a fixed point (compass directions) using a world map and a map of South Africa

–       South Africa’s neighbouring countries

–       Landlocked countries and countries with a coastline

–       Capital cities of South Africa and neighbouring countries

–       Mountains

–       Images of Africa

–       Grid referencing on a map of Africa (mountains, lakes, deserts, capital city)
