Resource Description
Included in this Resource:
- The poem itself
- Glossary of Terms to help with difficult words (in a text box on the side for easy use) This helps in children working independently so there is less of a need for peer consultation where they ask each other meanings of words (this helps with noise reduction in class).
- An analysis / explanation of the poem/style/tone/theme/figures of speech) The poem is explained in detail and justified by references to various points in the poem. With poetry there is not always a wrong or right answer, only an answer that can be justified by word usage within the text. The main theme running through the poem is highlighted by the metaphorical use of a ‘road’ which really symbolises life as we know it, full of decisions that we need to make. The first person / speaker / voice within the poem, details how he has had to make a decision from which he probably could not easily deviate, but that he wasn’t absolutely sure about his decision and knew somehow that he might never have the chance to come back to the point where he started out.
- Questions (20 marks) There is a mark allocation next to each question (ranging between 2-3 marks each) with some asking for quotes to substantiate answers.
- Answers (These answers are there to guide the marker however each individual pupil may give a slightly differently worded answer. Mark according to how much sense the answer makes). The last question (worth 3 marks) is completely open-ended with it having no wrong/right answer, only one that can be justified by the learner in whichever way is logical.
- MS Word Format making it highly customisable.
