Resource Description
Included is a printable and Power Point Version of Arrays Task Center Cards. Each Array has seven activities. Students work alone or in small groups to complete each hands on activity. Find the multiplication and division sentences, make groups, name the parts (factors) and the whole (product), use base 10 blocks and the number line to represent repeated addition, list all the factors in order on the factor rainbow and find the area and perimeter of each array. It is suited for grades 3 to 5. It is best if students are allowed to use base 10 blocks and counters or square tiles to enhance the hands on learning. Print cards, laminate and organize into each group. Reuse each year. This goes well with multiplication and division units, factor units and area and perimeter units. Also see the slide show Days of Arrays which would also compliment the centers. It is best if all the concepts are modeled first by the teacher before releasing the students to work independently. It is also good for early finishers.
